Natalie Williams Calhoun was born in Comox, B.C. and grew up in Vancouver, starting lessons on piano at the age of three and cello at the age of ten. She graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1995 with her Bachelor of Music, then studying with Eric Wilson, and continued on to the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England, graduating with her Master of Music in December 1998. While in England, Natalie studied with Leonid Gorokhov and Kim Bak Dinitzen and was a founding member of the Saskia Piano Trio. The Trio toured the UK and Europe several times, and recorded twice for BBC Radio 3. From 1999 - 2003, Natalie was living and working in Timmins as Principal Cellist for the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and Cello and Music Theory teacher for the Geoffrey James Lee Timmins Symphony Music School. From September 2003 to August 2009, Natalie was resident in Brantford, Ontario, and spent her time working with the National Ballet of Canada Orchestra, the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, the Windsor Symphony and Orchestra London Canada.

Since moving to Prince Edward Island and a small farm located in Millcove, Natalie has started to establish herself both as a music teacher and a cello soloist, playing in concerts with the PEI Symphony Orchestra and with the Summerside Community Choir.

Natalie started Purely Music in January 2005 in Brantford, Ontario, and while there the business grew to offer live classical music to clients in Brantford, London, and Kitchener-Waterloo as well as further afield to Kleinburg, Orangeville, Ingersoll & Mississauga. Now the business has moved to the Maritimes, and Natalie looks forward to providing classical music for special events on Prince Edward Island. Purely Music not only offers solo string musicians, but also groups of varying sizes and instrumental combinations.
